Silverstone Building

Home additions.

More space, integrated so it reads as original.

River Front Master Suite bedroom with refinished hardwood floors and a reading chair, North Bend

Silverstone Building builds home additions (bump-outs, second stories, and in-law suites) across the Seattle area and Snoqualmie Valley. Additions generally run $500–$1,500+/sq ft, higher per foot than new construction because of their complexity in a small footprint.

What it covers.

Bump-outs, second-story additions, in-law suites, and expansions that add room without starting over. The best additions don't look added on: they look like they were always part of the house.

Our approach.

Tying new construction into an existing home is deceptively hard. The foundation, framing, roofline, and finishes all have to meet work that was built decades ago to different standards, and the seam between old and new is where craftsmanship shows. That's the part we sweat.

What to consider.

  • Matching the existing home matters. Rooflines, siding, and trim all have to resolve cleanly, or the addition announces itself. We plan those transitions before we build them.

  • Zoning and setbacks shape what's possible. How far you can expand, and where, is governed by local rules: we'll help you understand them early.

  • Additions carry hidden structural work. Connecting to the existing structure, and sometimes reinforcing it, is part of the job.

Indicative cost.

Typical range$500–$1,500+/sq ft

Additions generally run $500–$1,500+/sq ft: higher per foot than you'd expect, because they carry most of the complexity of new construction in a smaller footprint. See the Cost Guide.
